Da qualche settimana, grazie al lavoro di alcuni membri di Frontiere Digitali e iQuindici, è possibile diffondere contenuti multimediali all’interno di locali pubblici senza dover pagare il compenso alla Siae. Lo ha stabilito una liberatoria a tempo indeterminato (documento protocollato presso l’Ufficio Multimedialità al nr. 1/290/06/FDP) valida dal 25 luglio 2006. La liberatoria è valida per tutti i contenuti tutelati da licenze libere come Creative commons, Art Libre, Copyzero X e altre, compreso tutto il materiale del pubblico dominio.
